Support in the Weeks After Birth

The weeks after birth bring a lot of change, and it helps to have a midwife who already knows your history. At The Midwife's Nest, we provide postnatal care in Cairns for new mothers, whether you were with us throughout pregnancy or are reaching out for the first time after birth. Nest Support includes clinic reviews at two, four and six weeks postpartum, with breastfeeding and infant feeding support along the way, and home visits are available subject to availability. If you're also planning ahead for a future pregnancy, our prenatal care follows the same continuity of care model. Call 0437 956 491 to arrange your postnatal review.

Starting Postnatal Support After Birth

You don't need to have been a client during pregnancy to arrange postnatal support with The Midwife's Nest. To get started, we'll usually book an initial in-clinic review around two weeks after birth, where we'll talk through how you and your baby are settling in and answer any questions about feeding, recovery or general newborn care. Further reviews are typically arranged at four and six weeks, with the option of additional contact in between if something comes up. Home visits can be arranged subject to availability, which may suit families finding it harder to get to appointments in the first few weeks. Any information you'd like to share about your birth or hospital stay helps us tailor these visits to your situation.
