Comprehensive antenatal reviews
We check your wellbeing and your baby's throughout pregnancy, following a recommended schedule of review from early pregnancy through to birth.

Finding a midwife you can see throughout your entire pregnancy isn't always easy, especially if you're hoping to avoid separate GP referrals for every stage. At The Midwife's Nest, we provide prenatal care in Cairns from the moment of your positive pregnancy test, starting with Nest Beginnings in the first trimester and continuing through Nest Journey's regular antenatal reviews, screening and birth planning. Every appointment is unhurried, so you have time to ask questions and understand your options as your pregnancy progresses. Our care continues into postnatal support once your baby arrives. Your first appointment, the Welcome to the Nest review, usually takes place around 4-6 weeks and gives us a chance to talk through your pregnancy so far and plan your care. Between 8-10 weeks, a comprehensive antenatal review covers your history in detail and helps confirm your first-trimester investigations and referrals. By 12-14 weeks, we complete your first-trimester care, reviewing your results and referring you on if you're moving to a different care provider for the rest of your pregnancy. From 16 weeks, routine antenatal reviews continue at set intervals, with an extended review around 28 weeks and a comprehensive birth planning session at 30 weeks to prepare for labour and birth. We'll let you know in advance what to bring to each appointment, such as any test results or referral letters you've received.
